George T. Maniates, U.S. Navy Veteran WWII. Beloved husband of the late Aileen T. Maniates nee Tilley. Loving father of Helen (Lawrence Garvin), Cynthia (David Winter) and Christina Maniates. Proud grandfather of Zoe Garvin, Peter McElwee, Lia (Wesley Sularz) Garvin, Alison McElwee and Troy and Yanni Gregg. Dear brother of Mary (the late George R.) Jimenez and the late Florence T. Maniates. Fond uncle of John (Caroline) Jimenez. Great uncle of Nicholas and Damaris Jimenez. George was an art director, creative director and vice-president at J. Walter Thompson Advertising Agency and an accomplished watercolorist. He used his artistic skills as co-chairman of the Pantocrator Iconography Project at SS. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church, as well as on many creative projects for the church where he was a member for 50 years. He was a founding member of the Sweet Spots golf group and an avid White Sox fan. Funeral InformationVisitation Wednesday, from 4:00pm to 9:00m at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 1104 Waukegan Rd., Glenview. Family and friends will meet Thursday morning at SS. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church 1401 Wagner Rd., Glenview, IL 60025 for visitation from 9:30am until time of funeral service at 10:00AM. Rev. Fr. James Dokos officiating .
