Mr. Peter Markos

Peter Markos Beloved husband of the late Eleni nee Georgantopoulos. Loving father of Bessie Kalkanis, Sam (Katina) and Christ (Patty) Markos. Proud grandfather of Dr. Georgia Kalkanis, Dr. James Kalkanis, Peter S. (Deanna) Markos, Eleni (Demetri) Tsilimigras, Eleni, Peter C. and Yanni Markos. Great grandfather of one. Fond brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend of many in the U.S., Greece and Canada. In 1955, Peter left his wife and 3 children in Greece to find work on the railroad in Mason City, Iowa. While working on the railroad, Peter became involved in the restaurant business. In 1962, he brought his family to Iowa and in 1970 they moved to Chicago. In Chicago, Peter opened his first restaurant, Ricky’s Restaurant. Peter, along with his sons, came to own and operate: the Diplomat Banquets, Belden Deli’s, Venice Banquets, Ricky’s at the Brickyard and T.J.’s in the Park. Arrangements by JOHN G. Funeral Information

Visitation Saturday, January 16, 2010 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at SMITH-CORCORAN Funeral Home 6150 N. Cicero Ave. Chicago. Funeral service and interment in Aleas Skotini, Argolidos, Greece.

Donations Information

Kindly omit flowers. Donations, in care of his family, to be distributed for the restoration of Koimisi Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church.
