Dr. Richard R. Ritt. Loving husband of Patricia nee Nappe. Beloved father of Pamela (Brian Gieger) Janas, Sandra (Norman) Anderson, Joanne Spachner and Richard M. (Elizabeth) Ritt. Fond grandfather of 14 and great grandfather of 5. Brother of Michael (Noreen), William , Eleanore (late George) VandenBosch and the late Rita, Dorothy and Mary Jane. Brother-in-law of Dr. Charles (late Petra) Nappe.
Dr. Ritt was married for 65 years to the love of his life. He was a proud father and faithful Catholic. Richard was a WWII Naval Veteran. After retiring from the Navy, he attended the College of Optometry. He practiced optometrics in Chicago for 40 years. The highlight of his career was traveling to Peru with Physicians Without Borders to preserve the eyesight of indigenous children. Richard was a photographer for WGN Television. His passion for taking pictures earned him the title of "Family Photographer". Richard loved baseball. He was a member of the Lane Tech H.S. Baseball Team. He also played for the Neighborhood Boys Club. Because of his athletic talent, he was drafted by several semi-professional baseball teams. He was a true Chicago Cubs and White Sox fan. Richard will be truly missed by family and friends.

Funeral Information

Funeral Service Thursday March 1, 9:30 am from Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Ave to Queen of All Saints Basilica for Mass at 10:00 am. Entombment All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation Wednesday 3pm until 9pm at the funeral home.
