Ambria Gabrielle Marie Hardy, 28, was born on March 14, 1989, and passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018, in Elgin, Illinois, of natural causes.  She was the beloved daughter of Ruth and Peter Jensen and beloved granddaughter of Caryn Higgins.  Ambria is survived by her sisters Courtney Jensen, Ashlyn Jensen, Pam Hoch, and Heather (Michael) Jensen and aunt Shawna Higgins. Ambria will be greatly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her birth mother Arika Natzke, her adopted father Gary Hardy, and her beloved brother Joshua Jared Hardy.
Ambria graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in May 2013 with a degree in art therapy.  A highlight of her time at SIU was a month-long service trip to Africa, where she helped build a village library.

Ambria’s family and friends remember her infectious smile, fun-loving, caring nature, artistic talents and her love of animals, especially her dog, Juniper.  She danced competitively as a child and loved music, putting her artistic talents to work with a career as an art therapist and direct support specialist. She had a passion for her work with special needs adults and community volunteering. Ambria enjoyed the sites of Europe, creating different medias of art, and her collection of fairies.  Ambria, you finally have your wings!

A memorial service celebrating Ambria life is in the planning stage and will be announced by her family.
