Loretta H. “Lori” Saponaro (nee Cvar), resident of Chicago and former longtime resident of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away December 16, 2016 surrounded by her family. Lori was born February 9, 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Anthony and Jennie Cvar. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles S. Saponaro; loving mother of David Saponaro (Greg Selke), Lisa (Eric) Stokes, Scott Saponaro, and the late Charles (Jill) Saponaro; “Grandma Lori” of Storm Saponaro, Jett Saponaro, Rosalena Van Syoc, Zachary Saponaro and Nicholas (Erica) Saponaro; sister of Jo Ann (the late William) McManus; aunt of her many nieces and nephews, and former mother-in-law of Catherine Saponaro. Lori’s youth was filled with the arts and culture which she carried throughout her life. She attended Ohio University where she met her husband. Lori treasured the abundance of memories made with her family and friends over many years at their lakeside home in northern Indiana, where she enjoyed beautiful scenery and nature, before moving to Chicago. She always saw the positive in people and in the world. The sparkle in her eyes will be missed. A private celebration of Lori’s life was held in Chicago.
