Mary Ann Nora (Baer) Wiberg, 80, formerly of Marshalltown, IA passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017 in Lake Zurich, Illinois. She had received a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease several years ago and succumbed to a sudden illness. She is survived by her beloved husband Richard, her five lovely daughters: Kim (Don) George, Lisa (Alex) Fosses, Holly (Tom) Scharringhausen, Joy (Damon) Stuart and Dana (Aaron) Anthony, her dear sister Delores (Jerry) Vojtko, her adored grandchildren: Ami, Eric, Bryan, Carrie, David, Katlyn, Samuel, Alaina, Katherine, Gillian, Devon and Nils, and six great grandchildren: Caleb, Cameron, Trasen, Lilia, Ethan and Nolan. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Rev. Garland (Betty) Baer and Rev. Paul Baer, her sister, LaVerne (Karl) Bottke and her granddaughter Kelsey Scharringhausen.

Mary Ann was born and raised in Haysville, Indiana, the youngest of five children. She was the Valedictorian of Dubois High School, graduating class of 1955. Mary Ann then graduated from Carthage College with a Degree in teaching in 1959 the same year she married Richard, who she met while working together in Chicago, Illinois. She and Richard raised five daughters in Northbrook, Illinois area before moving to Marshalltown, Iowa in 1980.

In addition to being a wife and homemaker, Mary Ann had a heart for hospitality. She and Richard opened their home to foster children and traveling ministers. In the church, she volunteered in many capacities such as greeter, bible study leader, librarian and choir member. She was also a member of the La Leche League and Women’s Aglow which was the foundation of many of her lifelong friendships. In her later years, she was the Co-Director of the Caring Center for 30 years (charitable organization) along with being a political and social activist for conservative Christian causes.

Her visitation is Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 1pm until time of the Funeral Service at 3pm at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, IL. Interment will be private. 847-359-8020 or www.smithcorcoran.com.
