Don’t face grief alone. Our aftercare services help families deal with the loss of a loved one after the funeral. At Smith-Corcoran, our care does not end with the funeral; we want to support you in the grieving and healing process. We encourage families to participate in community support groups or seek professional private counseling. Our staff can recommend the top specialists in our area.
We have an extensive grief library with resources on how to cope with death and rebuild in the weeks and months after your loss. Dr. Alan Wolfelt and Dr. Bill Hoy are two of the leading and most respected grief counselors in the country. They both offer services and resources to help walk with you through grief as you are never alone. Dr. Alan Wolfelt is the director of the Center for Loss & Life Transition and Dr. Bill Hoy is a Professor at Baylor University and runs Grief Connect: A Center for Grief Education. Dr. Hoy has also worked with Selected Independent Funeral Homes of which we are a proud member to develop some additional resources for Coping with a Loss. These are all powerful resources, along with our compassionate staff, to help assist you through your time of need.
Family and friends can light a virtual candle for a loved one on a birthday, anniversary or just because with the click of a button on our website.
Smith-Corcoran also offers online message boards where you can connect with other people who are grieving. When you have lost a loved one, it is important to express your emotions, but it can be hard to talk to friends and family who do not understand. Sometimes talking to a stranger who has empathy can mean the world.
