Mildred L. “Millie” Burns nee DeVic, 92, lifelong resident of Chicago. Beloved wife of the late Willard J. Burns; loving mother of Daniel (Linda), Mary Sue (Kevin) Mackey, Mary Anne and Mary Beth (Lyn) Burns; cherished “gramma” of Elizabeth (Chris), the late Michael, Matthew (Michelle), Thomas, Ryan, Colin, and Shannon; Adored great-grandma to Carter and Eliza. Dearest sister of the late Lorraine M. (Francis) Sullivan; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her devoted caregiver, April. Millie was a longtime parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Church.  She had a terrific sense of humor, a strong faith rooted in her Catholic upbringing, and was charitable in both word and deed. She received her degree in theater from Mundelein College (class of 1950) and had a lifelong love of theater.  Many may remember Mrs. Burns as a den mother, scout leader, or the lady behind the desk of 117 at St. Scholastica Academy, where she was employed for over three decades. She was a very creative woman and this was often reflected in her famous Halloween costume creations. In her younger years, she played the clarinet and tenor saxophone.  She raised her family alongside her sister and best friend, Lorraine.  Millie enjoyed summers at the Elks Club, winters at the Pinewood, and gin martinis all year round!  She loved and enjoyed her family, and spent many summers at Lake Delton surrounded by her grandchildren. She will be missed forever…as she would say, “C’est la vie”! Visitation and services will be held privately at St. Margaret Mary Church. Interment All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Scholastica Monastery, 7430 N. Ridge Blvd., Chicago, IL 60645 or Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care, Rainbowhospice.org  Info., 773-736-3833 or visit Mildred’s memorial at www.smithcorcoran.com.
